After two years of partnership, Twitter has revoked the ability for LinkedIn users to view tweets in their LinkedIn feed. The move was announced in a series of blog posts from both social sites. LinkedIn, however, assured users that they will still be able to share their LinkedIn posts as tweets.
CBS reports that the decision by Twitter is “part of a greater initiative to create stricter requirements for developers who use the company’s API.” As early as March 2011, Twitter’s Ryan Sarver said that developers should not “build client apps that mimic or reproduce the mainstream Twitter consumer client experience.” Removing the tweet feed from LinkedIn is definitely a step in that direction.
