Forget Facebook for a minute and just think about your business. Every successful mid-market B2B has “fans”. They’re your customers, relatives, employees and dear friends. These people watched you create a thriving business. And during tougher times, they may have helped you survive. These people know exactly who you are. They trust you. These “fans” talk about your business. They are special. And they have Facebook accounts.
Word of Mouth Marketing
So when the time is right, set up a Facebook Page for your business. Invite your friends. Invite them to share their experience with your business. But, you have to feed your fan base by making them feel special. You have to reward them for their devotion. Share special information. Tell them about what’s happening inside your business. Ask for input. Have contests or promote events. As Andy Sernovitz says, give them something interesting or fun to talk about. This marketing channel is rich and limited only by your creativity.

Great post and solid timing! I’ve been a Facebook user since 2004, and am just now starting to use it from a business perspective for some of my freelance clients. It’s a valuable tool when used right!

Absolutely! All marketers should at least take a look at Facebook to see what opportunities exist for reaching their target markets. You posted some good nuggets here, but if people are looking for some more detail, including guides of how to set up their pages, check out the resources I have posted here.

It is a new site, but targeted specifically at the people out there like Doniree who are trying to figure out how to use this site to help clients.
